Temple had a few comments on the Locked on Kings podcast re: Harry Giles:
    • great guy best rookie in terms of listening and wanting to learn
    • knows how to play the game, our best passer as a big on the team
    • gigantic hands, able to get to the rim from the mid post with one move and hold ball with one hand
    • athletic, you would not know he had two knee surgeries
    • sets great screens, unusual for young big
    • can't wait to see him on the court

If Giles can play in February and get in about 20-25 games, it would give Sac an opportunity to see what they got and might help with the eventual draft.

Grant always hypes the unseen. If the team is doing badly and the other kids are exhibiting the growing pains..maybe raising questions about our draft moves..he’ll immediately start hyping the guy we aren’t seeing. Whether it’s Giles this year or Bogdan last year(who Grant admittedly didn’t really watch).

Not saying he’s wrong. I’m sure he has it on good authority but I noticed the next guy up is always better with him. Whether it’s a mystery prospect or a reserve that in theory can do great with more minutes. “Let me tell you, John Salmons will make you forget Ron Artest even exists. Okay?”

I can’t wait to see Giles. What Temple says has me stoked.

The Giles hype though is coming from all different parties, although all Kings related, but nothing but superlatives and then if you watched the above posted Instagram video........hard not to get our hopes up once again.

From a Jason Jones mailbag column two days ago...

A: There have been very brief glimpses of Harry Giles in practice for the media. Those around the team rave about his potential as he’s shown athleticism and shooting range in controlled settings. Giles is also proving to be very studious and picking up all he can from film sessions and working with assistant coaches away from the court.

The good news is his knees are fine and the team has no worries in that area. Now it’s about getting Giles in the physical condition to play competitively again. He hasn’t played much in the last year and coming off injuries, the Kings want to make sure he builds up the strength in his legs, core, etc., to withstand playing NBA basketball.

Kimgs officially red-shirt Harry Giles for this season, according to James Ham. I'll post the link.

Longer than usual article by NBC with good information on the testing.

    Official statement.

Smart move there is nothing gained by playing him right now. I was hoping they would red shirt him as soon as he was picked so personally I'm satisfied with the decision.

This is the most important part. Since he's 100% healthy right now, it's time to focus on his skill development. I have no clue what to expect from Harry Giles skill-wise.

Smart move like smoke said, and maybe they can really decide their course of action with Papa, Skal, and whether resigning Willie is in the cards going into next season.

Would have been fun to see him play though, just to catch a glimpse. Although, now I can hold onto irrational hope that he a key piece for the future. After all, irrational hope is crucial to Kings fandom

Maybe we will look back on Vlade as being 5 moves ahead of everybody else on this one. Instead of drafting for impact at #10, he grabs a couple guys with longer incubation periods - virtually insuring a top 3 pick in 2018.

    Not bad Vlade, not bad...

Dream a little dream for me! Hey, you could be right! Doug Christie, who has seen Giles in practice said that down the road, Giles will be graded as the best player out of this class. I think we should just give him the ROY award now and get it over with.

Yeah, I agree with the statement by the Kings that there's nothing to be gained by throwing Giles out there against NBA players that are in mid-season form. Wouldn't be fair to him, and really nothing to gain.

I think a lot of us saw this coming.

Still a bit disappointing, but oh well!

If he lives up to the hype and we pick top 5, we'll have two stud rookies to get excited about next year!

This should make our Summer League team a MUST WATCH, what with Giles & our new lottery pick !!!

    Go Kings!!!

I guess that means I'll have to go to Summer League again this year. Shucks. (See you there, Baja!)

I had said this should be the plan the minute we drafted him. Then again, I lived through Oden in Portland.

Very likely that Fox, Jackson, Mason, maybe Skal and big Papa will be there as well.

I saw somebody say this on twitter and was a little bit surprised at the projection that Fox is there. If so, our team should completely run over summer league.

You think it's very likely? You think Fultz, Ball, Jackson, Tatum will be too?

Seriously question - I don't know what is customary for top shelf lottery sophomores.

Top-shelf lottery sophomores seem kinda 50-50, maybe a bit less, in my hazy memory. A guy who has a great rookie season (like, say Devin Booker) often doesn't check in for Summer League, but usually the players who still have to work on their game seem to be there. Of the guys you list I'd assume Tatum is a no, Fultz and Jackson will be a yes, and Ball may depend on whether the Lakers try to re-tool his shot or not.

For the Kings I would guess we can be pretty confident we'll see any 2018 draft picks, Giles, Jackson, Mason, Papa, Malachi, Sampson, Cooley (assuming they're all still with the team). Skal seems likely, and Fox seems likely unless he really turns it on late season. Fox is also the kind of guy who might play the first game or two then shut it down. Hield is iffy at best, but it would probably do him good. Bogdan is almost certainly a no, WCS is a no.

Remember we thought they were going to completely dominate summer league this last year with Fox, Hield, Skal, Papa, Jackson, Malachi and Mason?

That turned out to be a massive disappointment.

I suspect we see Fox for 2 games and then let Mason run the show. No Hield, no Bogi, no WCS

He's playing in practices, but he can't play in games. What's the diff between a scrimmage in a practice and a regular game? Is it that he's playing against cupcake city in Kings' practices versus tougher competition in an NBA game? Just curious on that point.

Looking forward to summer league with Giles and a top 3 pick to go along with Fox.

Practice won't have remotely the same level of intensity as a game, not to mention that he can focus on select areas in practice vs. being expected to go full bore at all ends of the court during a game. It's the same for why he's not playing in Reno, he can focus without risk of major aggravation. If he feels any stress or anything I'm sure he's under instruction to get immediate treatment, etc rather than hustle to make the next play.

Seriously why not red shirt him building his strength gets him to 100% healthy we are talking about a good player all of a sudden. He’s only been rehabbing since his junior on HS now he’s finally building strength that should do a lot to his body
